A prosthesis is important after a breast removal surgery not only because it can help with a woman’s self-confidence but also because it can help with any associated balance, posture and shoulder drop issues.
Types of breast prosthetics
The most common type of breast prostheses fit inside a pocket of a special post-mastectomy bra. The prostheses are made of silicone which helps with body symmetry because of its lifelike weight. If a lighter weight option in necessary, weighted foam forms are also available.
We are proud to carry the Amoena brand of post-mastectomy bras. We keep a wide variety of sizes, styles and colors in stock.
We work with post-mastectomy clients by appointment in our Meadville office so Tammie can take as much time as needed to properly fit you and answer any questions you might have about your new prosthesis and bras.
Did you know that many insurance plans cover breast prostheses and post-mastectomy bras with a prescription? Check with your insurance carrier to find out what your plan covers.
